Frequently asked questions

What is AFC Entity Radar?

A free open-source-intelligence screening tool for anti-financial-crime, KYC and compliance work. It checks a person or company against official sanctions and watchlists, PEP data, offshore leaks, adverse media and country risk, and explains the result with a 0–100 risk score.

Which sanctions lists does it check?

18 official lists via OpenSanctions, including UN Security Council, US OFAC SDN and consolidated lists, EU financial sanctions, UK sanctions and proscribed organisations, Switzerland SECO, Canada, Australia, Pakistan NACTA, UAE and India terrorist lists, Interpol red notices, FBI and UK NCA most wanted, World Bank debarment, plus Pakistan parliament members as PEP lists. They refresh every 6 hours.

How does it reduce false positives?

It recognises spelling variants, gives little weight to common name parts like Muhammad or Khan, treats matches below 92% as possible rather than confirmed, and down-weights records whose birth year or country does not match the details you enter.

Is it free?

Yes for personal, research, journalism and non-profit use: 5 checks per day without an account and more with a free account. Business use requires a paid plan.

Is a match proof of wrongdoing?

No. Results are potential matches from public sources. Being a PEP or appearing in leaked records is not evidence of a crime. Always verify identity with official documents and follow your institution's procedures.

Do you store the names I screen?

No. Screened names are processed in memory and never stored or logged. We only count how many checks an account or an anonymised connection has used.
